Welcome to the Nine-Five Podcast

by | Jul 14, 2020 | Podcast

I want to welcome you to the Nine-Five Podcast! In this first episode, we briefly get into my background story and how/why I decided to start my own brand, business, and now podcast.

Nick (00:01): This is the Nine-Five Podcast. And I'm your host, Nick Nalbach,

Nick (00:04): Where we get into the minds of entrepreneurs and people, just like you, so you can start, build and grow your own online business

Nick (00:19): What is up guys and welcome to the Nine-Five Podcast. Like the intro to this podcast started, I'm your host, Nick Nalbach and I'm super excited to be here. This is the first podcast episode of the Nine-Five Podcast. So I'm super excited to be here. I'm super excited to have you here listening, and I cannot wait to get into this. Those of you who have been following along, you know, that it's been a very long but quick journey to get to the podcast and get it done and out to the point where we're at now. And for those of you that have not heard of the Nine-Five Podcast, you don't know what this is. This is your first time coming in, basically as the intro to the whole podcast suggested we interview entrepreneurs so that you can kind of get inside the minds of them, see what it takes to start, build, and grow your own online business.

Nick (01:05): And basically what I want it. I want it to be a resource for you so that you can come back, use the tips and tricks and strategies and everything that these entrepreneurs are talking about and be able to use that. So you can form your own online business, or if you already have a business, help grow it to become an even better business. So this podcast episode is going to be actually a little bit different than the ones going on down the road. This one is going to be just me today. And then in the future, I will be bringing on entrepreneurs, business owners, the people who are actually starting growing and building their own brands. So this first episode, I just kind of wanted to give you an idea of where this whole podcast came from, why I got into online business, the whole background of the Nine-Five To Freedom brand, which encompasses the Nine-Five Podcast.

Nick (01:51): So I guess to start, I should probably tell you why I decided to do the Nine-Five Podcast in the first place or even Nine-Five To Freedom in general. And basically it came down to, I noticed that there are a lot of people out there that don't think that entrepreneurship is something that they can do themselves. I know this for a fact because I was in the very same boat you guys are in right now. I saw entrepreneurs. I saw people making money online, and I really thought that that was something that was reserved for the select few, the lucky ones, the ones who had the money to do it. I didn't think that it was ever going to be a possibility for someone like me. It was just something that I kind of pushed to the side and basically wrote it off. But it wasn't until a few years ago, when I started kind of reading more about entrepreneurship, business in general and sort of paying attention to people around me.

Nick (02:40): And that's when I realized that entrepreneurship, isn't just for the lucky people. Anybody could become an entrepreneur. Anybody can run their own business and anybody can become their own boss. And that's kind of where this all stemmed from. I want to be able to show you by talking with the people who are just like you and me, but are becoming their own boss. They are starting their own brands and they're are making a name for themselves in the online space. For me, I got into entrepreneurship way later than I would have liked now, knowing what I know. So hopefully by listening to this podcast, you can see that it is a possibility for you. Now, I'm going to get into a little bit about my story from the beginning, how I ended up actually getting into entrepreneurship. And hopefully if you're in the same boat as me, it'll kind of inspire you to also get into online business and try to build something for yourself.

Nick (03:29): My whole plan coming up through school was that I was going to graduate high school. I was going to get into college from there. I would get a career job where I'd sit in that career office for 45-50 years, whatever it takes to ultimately be old enough to retire. It wasn't until I actually read a book called The Millionaire Fastlane by MJ DeMarco. That completely changed my way of thinking. I was actually just browsing around Barnes and Noble. I was looking at business books. I had just graduated college year, two years before this. And I decided that I needed to like get my life together. I needed to basically build myself a professional career. So I started looking at business books at Barnes and Noble, and there were a couple of, I almost ended up getting and decided not to too. And I'm glad I didn't because I went back home and I did some more research online.

Nick (04:21): And I ended up finding The Millionaire Fastlane by MJ DeMarco. And after I read that book, my mind set completely shifted. The whole premise of the book book was that you don't have to follow the same path as everyone else. You don't have to do the, the schooling to a career to retire at 65. And hopefully you are still healthy enough to be able to enjoy the years of retirement. You have left. You actually build something for you yourself now, so that you can enjoy life now and not wait until you're 65. And for some reason that that book really struck a chord with me. I realized, yeah, I don't want to wait until I'm 65. I don't want to wait to enjoy life. I want to enjoy it now while I'm healthy. And I'm able, if you are at all on the fence, I highly recommend checking that book out.

Nick (05:07): There's The Millionaire Fastlane and Unscripted by MJ. DeMarco are both really great books. And that's basically what shifted my entire mindset. After reading this book, I got in my own head and I decided that I'm going to start something myself. I want to build a brand. I want to build a business. I want to be my own boss and I no longer want to be, I guess, stuck in the nine to five lane. I want to create my own Avenue. And I want to, you have the freedom to do what I want. Get that financial freedom that everyone's chasing after. And in doing this, I allow myself the freedom of time to do things when I want and how I want. I'm no longer restricted to what other people at the nine to five, what a corporate position is going to tell me to do.

Nick (05:47): And that ultimately was very appealing for me. I want to be able to live life on my own terms and I don't want it to be dictated to me from someone else Depending on where you are in your career, maybe are very happy in your career. And if so, hats off to you keep doing what you love to do. But if you are one of those people that is having a tough time coming to terms with the fact that you are building someone else's wealth and not contributing to your own, entrepreneurship is a very possible thing for you as well. So that is where the Nine-Five To Freedom brand was birthed out of this kind of realization and moment where I decided that I want to become my own boss. I don't want to work for someone else right now, ninefivetofreedom.com.

Nick (06:30): You can go to it right at this moment. And it is a blog with resources and tips and strategies to help other people get their own business off the ground from coming up with a niche or their own topic to actually getting their website up and running and starting their own blog. And now this is also where the Nine-Five Podcasts is going to be housed as well. But it wasn't until about a month and a half ago that I actually decided that I was going to do this podcast. I was trying to get into the video content the last several months, and it's been a real struggle for me to do so. I really had psyched myself out of the whole entire thing. And it was, it was not going well at all. And I started, I decided I needed to do something and TikTok is at this point becoming very huge.

Nick (07:19): Everybody's getting on TiKTok. And I decided that maybe I should give TkTok a try. I'm not comfortable in front of a camera, but I only have to be on camera for 60 seconds at most. If I can just give myself a little bit of a confidence boost by posting the TikTok, where probably no one's going to see it because I don't have any followers. And probably just two weeks into consistently publishing TikTok videos. I started to get more confident. And that's what also ultimately spawned the idea of starting my own podcast. And if it wasn't for me doing that just the two weeks that I spent publishing TikTok videos, I was doing probably three to four videos a day straight for two weeks. And with that, I kind of built up the confidence to be able to actually say, yes, I'm going to do this podcast.

Nick (08:04): It's been a very quick month and a half to, here we are. It's happening. I've already got three or four interviews done recorded. And this is going to be the first episode that you are going to see, which I'm super excited about. If you are interested in learning more and getting inside the minds of entrepreneurs with me, I also have another episode uploaded and published right now for you to go listen to. So make sure you don't miss out on episode two. So what are you ultimately going to get when you come on and listen to the Nine-Five Podcast? Well, I want you guys to be able to hopefully see what they're doing and replicate it yourself, or maybe even just take bits and pieces of what they're doing. So you can incorporate it into your own thing. At this point, we've already interviewed someone.

Nick (08:46): Who's got their own SEO agency, someone who started their own private practice in the therapy field, and another one who is very big into the blogging. He makes income from marketing. And yeah, I mean, we're going to cover a very broad range of topics as it relates to online business. So I'm really hoping that you can get a lot of benefit from this podcast. And I hope at least some episodes are able to resonate with you and help you build and grow your own. Now, I haven't really nailed down an exact timeframe of how long this podcast is going to last, really want to keep most of the interviews that we've had so far, it ranged from about 30 minutes to an hour. So really I think it's going to depend on the interview. If there's a lot of great information being had, which so far, all of our interviews are packed with a lot of awesome info.

Nick (09:28): I want to make that available to you. These episodes are going to be released on every Wednesday aside form, aside from this date. So today is the launch date, July 14th, and this is the official Nine-Five Podcast launch. You have access to this podcast and then one more podcast interview that I did with Tyler Nalbach, who is actually my brother. He just started his own SEO agency. And he's currently doing that on, on the side of his current nine to five job. So we sit down with Tyler and we kinda talk about how he's able to manage working both at nine to five job and working in an SEO agency where he has several clients to this point. So I hope you enjoyed this podcast episode. I hope you are intrigued and interested to listen to the next episode. I'm super excited to get these interviews out to you.

About This Episide

Back before the Nine-Five Podcast was even a thought, I was working a typical 9-5 job (kind of). I worked more than and currently work more than the typical 9-5 job. I’m doing this all while trying to build and grow my own online business on the side.

But why is this important?

I had always thought about how lucky those millionaires and billionaires were to start something of their own and be able to make money for themselves. They have no one to report to, have no one that needs to approve their time-off, and no one to determine how much they’re going to make that year. How lucky for them…

It wasn’t until I read the book The Millionaire Fastlane by M.J. DeMarco (affiliate link). that I realized entrepreneurship is something that anybody can get started in. I can make money for myself, have no one to report to, and most importantly, spend time how I want to be spending it.

And you can too!

So come with me on this journey through online business where I show you tips and strategies you can use to start, build, and grow your own online business. And best of all, you get to hear from entrepreneurs who are people JUST LIKE YOU AND ME!
